Meet the Reality Show Gurus!
As successful entrepreneurs in their own businesses, Dan Lier & Mike Lindstrom started their journey in the world of TV entertainment in 2003 when they pitched Dick Clark of Dick Clark Entertainment on their first Reality TV Show. Dick Clark Entertainment extended an offer on Dan & Mike’s show idea, and the journey was on. Working closely alongside numerous production companies and crafting show concepts, they built relationships and created a template to assist others who have show ideas, to bring those ideas one step closer to reality.
“The toughest part is just getting to the right people who can actually make a decision on your idea,” said Mike. “We felt like we were sharp guys and yet Hollywood plays by different rules, so knowing what they want, how they want it, and most importantly, who to go to, is the formula for success.”
Dan explained, “Because of the nature of our businesses, we meet so many interesting people during the course of our travels. After nine years of meeting people and developing relationships in the entertainment industry, we are committed to creating an avenue for others to get their show ideas to Hollywood. I was in 20 countries last year alone and I’m always meeting people who want to share their show ideas. We were signed by a talent agency twice because of our work on TV and the success of our multiple personal and business projects, and we thought that would help us create the connection with the production companies… not so much. We had to make our own opportunities.”
The Reality Show Gurus were approached by one of the most respected production companies in Los Angeles, as they were interested to doing a reality show about their business projects and personal work as well. When Dan & Mike showed up for their pitch meeting, they not only had the treatment for their own show, they brought multiple other shows as well, and the relationship started to build.
After 20 months of pitches, meetings and negotiations, Dan & Mike now have a formal agreement as “reality talent scouts” to bring new show ideas to the production team. They have created the path for success in reality television for anyone who has a solid idea, to get that idea pitched to those who can take the idea to the next level.
